Robyn and Josh

When life gives you buckets of rain, embrace it. That’s how the saying goes isn’t it?

Okay, maybe not quite. But that’s exactly what Robyn, Josh and their guests did at their absolutely divine wedding at Nancarrow Farm yesterday. When it rained, it poured. No really. It didn’t stop. But my goodness… it was still the best day ever.

Robyn and Josh’s wedding kicked off my 2023 wedding season. And more importantly, it truly lit a fire within me.

It reminded me of why I do this job. How incredible it is to get to work with the most humble, beautiful souls. How sometimes no matter how much you’ve planned it all, you still have to run by the seat of your pants (or leopard print dungarees, in my case). How you have to have a willingness to embrace the madness and trust the process. Wedding photography is about documenting all of the carefully curated, gorgeous details. But it’s also all about noticing the tiny, fleeting moments. It’s about escaping dinner for ten minutes to make the best of a gap in the rain. And most of all it’s about going unseen, quietly observing, knowing the impact and gravity of what you’re seeing and documenting.Wedding photography isn’t for everyone, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t scare me or worry me sometimes. Yesterday was particularly one of those days because almost all of our plans went out of the window. But you know what? It *is* for me. And I love it every single time. 💜
