Jess and James

Oh my goodness... it feels so good to be back doing what I love, and regaining a sense of normality after so very long! I can imagine it was a true joy to finally be able to get married for Jess and James too!

There is quite the story with this couple! They first enquired with me in 2019, but unfortunately I was already booked for their 2020 wedding date. After having to postpone their wedding to 2021 due to the pandemic and their date falling within lockdown, they then sadly lost their photographer in the process. Losing couples is the hardest thing, and I can only imagine it was equally awful for both Jess, James and their photographer. The positive from this was that when they got back in touch, I was able to accommodate their new date, even though it also had to be postponed! Alas, we finally got there and it was such a beautiful day!

I started the day at Jess' bridal prep, something I haven't been able to be involved in for so long. Masked up and raring to go, I was met by her Mum who showed me to all of Jess' details. Jess had spent so much time and energy hand picking lots of accessories, including having her ring box and Jo Malone perfume engraved... and not one, but two pairs of shoes! I loved it so much and got straight to work with photographing everything. I could spend an entire blog post just talking about the detail shots!

After Jess had finished getting ready, I headed to Newland Hall for the ceremony where I met James, who was super chilled. Their ceremony was attended by just 13 people and it was so lovely, the happiness was beaming out of everyone who was there, including the registrars who were so incredibly accommodating and made sure I could get the best angles!

Following the ceremony came the usual formalities of a confetti throw, group shots, and then I spent 20 minutes with the couple for some relaxed portraits before they headed back for vegan pizza (I have to say, I was quite jealous!)

The more weddings I have the opportunity to photograph in these strange times, the more grateful I feel. I've never taken my job for granted but I have such a huge sense of appreciation and gratitude to be able to do what I can. Whatever happens, love isn't cancelled.

Thank you Jess and James for allowing me to be a part of your day, you honestly brought me so much happiness!
